Timbre Variable

15 dec 2012- 29 sep 2013 – Het Textielmuseum, Goirkestraat 96, Tilburg, toont in de tentoonstelling ‘ROUGH’ werk van mannelijke kunstenaars die met textiel werken. Onderdeel van de tentoonstelling is deze installatie van Nico Parlevliet, genaamd ‘TimbreVariable’. Dit vrij vroege werk [1988] is aangekocht door het museum.
De installatie bestaat uit een groep opblaasbare beelden, die elk een drieklank produceren; twee tonen van het buurtbeeld en een nieuwe. Door tussen de beelden te lopen worden ze geactiveerd en hoor je een langzame verschuiving van de tonen in de akkoorden.

15 Dec 2012- 29 Sep 2013 – The Textile Museum, Goirkestraat 96, Tilburg, the Netherlands shows in the exhibition ‘ROUGH’ works of male artists who work with textiles. Part of the exhibition is this installation of Nico Parlevliet, called ‘TimbreVariable’. This fairly early work [1988] has been purchased by the museum.
The installation consists of a group inflatables, each one produce a chord of three tones; two tones from the inflatable beside and a new one. By walking past the inflatables they are activated and you hear a slow shift of the tones in the chord.
