Timbre Variable

1988 – Paul Panhuysen daagde Nico Parlevliet uit, na het zien van het werk ‘Berg in Es’, om een zaal te vullen in het Apollohuis, Eindhoven. Dit werk met de titel ‘Timbre Variable’ werd eerst in het Apollohuis gebracht en later dat jaar bij Rolf Langebartels in Giannozzo, Berlijn. De installatie bestaat uit een groep opblaasbare beelden, die allen een drieklank produceren, welke bestaat uit twee tonen uit het buurtbeeld plus een nieuwe. Door tussen de beelden door te lopen worden ze geactiveerd, waardoor er een langzame verschuiving van de klank plaats vindt.

1988 – Paul Panhuysen challenged Nico Parlevliet, after seeing the work ‘Berg in Es’, to fill a space in the Apollo House, Eindhoven. This work entitled ‘Timbre Variable’ was shown first in the Apollo House and later that year with Rolf Langebartels in Giannozzo, Berlin. The installation consists of a group of inflatable statues, each one produce a chord of three tones, which consists of two tones from the inflatable statue beside plus a new one. By walking between the inflatables, they are activated and after a moment you hear a slow shift of the tones in the chords.
