Soundhouse 3 – Nocturne (in Black and Gold)

2018 – SoundHouse 3 – Nocturne (in Black and Gold) maakt deel uit van de tentoonstelling Zomersneeuw / Beelden op de berg 11, Belmonte Arboretum, Generaal Foulkesweg 94-A, Wageningen.
Curator: Flos Wildschut. Deelnemende kunstenaars zijn: Sjoerd Buisman, Stéphane Cauchy, Karin van Dam, William Engelen, Anne Geene, Nico Parlevliet, René Roeten, Tanja Smeets en Aeneas Wilder.
Nico Parlevliet liet zich voor zijn installatie van twee kanten inspireren. Allereerst is er een klein schilderijtje van James Whistler met de titel ‘Nocturne in black and gold, the falling rocket’ uit 1875. Daarnaast is er het oorlogsverleden van de locatie; tijdens de tweede Wereldoorlog is er hevig gevochten op de heuvel, waar het arboretum gevestigd is. De klinkende latoenkoper stroken vertolken het wapengekletter uit het verleden.

2018 – SoundHouse 3 – Nocturne (in Black and Gold) is part of the exhibition Summer Snow / Images on the mountain 11, Belmonte Arboretum, Generaal Foulkesweg 94-A, Wageningen, the Netherlands.

Curator: Flos Wildschut. Participating artists are: Sjoerd Buisman, Stéphane Cauchy, Karin van Dam, William Engelen, Anne Geene, Nico Parlevliet, René Roeten, Tanja Smeets and Aeneas Wilder.
Nico Parlevliet was inspired by two sides for his installation. First of all, there is a small painting by James Whistler entitled ‘Nocturne in black and gold, the falling rocket’ from 1875. In addition, there is the war history of the location; during the second world war there was fierce fighting on the hill where the arboretum is located. The riveting copper strips represent the clatter of weapons from the past.
